Beginner School

Adult Hockey Association Twin Cities Beginner School is designed for Adults who either never learned to skate or have skated but not played hockey. The program takes students through the basic skills of hockey and introduces players to the concepts of team play. The 10 on ice instructional sessions include two monitored scrimmages, where the experienced coaching staff will stop play to point out various ways of handling a situation. There are also two classroom sessions to maximize on ice time and allow participants to ask the coaches questions. Half way through the school the group is divided into two teams and play their first games.

Note:We are accepting registrations at this point for the Spring Beginner Program, which will begin in April 9th on Wednesday nights, & conclude on August 20th.

Great SaveCost for the Program is $415 (each player must also register individually with USA Hockey) and includes the 10 on ice instructional sessions, 2 off ice instructional sessions, 9 games and a light-weight jersey. The fee does not include equipment or game jerseys. Each team is required to purchase one set of game jerseys (you buy the 2nd one when your team moves into league play.) Each Beginner Session is cut off at 34 players including goalies.

The Spring 2008 Beginner Program will run on Wednesday nights at Breck Anderson Arena beginning April 9th and running through August 20th. Ice times will begin at 9:30 PM. (see schedule for instructional sessions)

Beginner League/Goalie News:
Through creative purchasing and donations the AHA assembled 3 sets of goalie equipment for rental to our players. The stuff isn't all pretty, but it's all in good working order. Contact the beginner school administrator, Paul Swenson at: beginner@ahahockey.com for more info.

If you are interested in learning how to play hockey you should visit the LifeTime Hockey web site. LifeTime Hockey is a valuable resource for Adults who are just getting started in recreational hockey with information on equipment, skills, how to play, and a glossary of terms. Visit often and improve your understanding of the the game of no-check hockey.
