AHA Open Ice

This Winter the AHA will continue to offer it’s AHA Open Ice Program to Beginner Players, D2 and D1 level players along with C2 & C1 level Players within the AHA. The goal of the program will be directed towards getting players with both little experience and/or skill and to be able to play against other players of their same ability.

The program will run from November until March and the cost of the program will be $12 per session. Registration of the program will be coordinated through the Open Ice Coordinator and payment will be coordinated through the AHA Website on the Registration page.

Click here to see who has registered for each session.

The program will allow for a total of 26 players, (which will include 2 goalies, who will not pay a fee) to have a “pick up” ice hockey session for an hour and a half. The administrator will oversee the program to ensure parity through out the session. If a players skill level is higher than his or her peers, they will be asked after the session that this program is not an appropriate level for them.

B2/B1 Sessions:

There are two ways for skaters to register and pay: online registration and by faxing the AHA Terms of Registration and a credit card form to the league office. Completing online registration and payment receives immediate placement. Faxed registrations and payment must be sent to the league office 48 hours before the scheduled session (Saturday evening by 7:00 pm) to avoid registration conflicts. Faxed registrations are on a first come first serve basis and due to the delay involved in this process run the risk of not getting in before the session is full.

Goalies will register by emailing OpenIce@AHAHockey.com. Because goalies are free, they are only permitted to register for one session at a time.

Walk-ups will be allowed on a first come, first serve basis if space is available and must pay with a credit card. Please check the list of registered players to see if there may be room for walk-ups.

An administrator will be on site to monitor play and parity. If a participant is found to be out of the bounds of parity, or plays in a particularly physical or aggressive manner, they may be excluded from continued participation.

We plan to offer AHA Open Ice sessions for other levels of play within the league. If you have not given us feedback regarding an open hockey program, please do so by e-mailing OpenIce@AHAHockey.com.
